This is the story of our
15-day Uganda trip in July 2002. It is written in diary style with a bit of
"he said, she said" scattered here and there. Many specifics for
birding the sites described are in Rossouw & Sacchi (1988), a critical book
for any successful visit to this beautiful land. (Nice photos)

General Information
Eight people took part in this
trip, which was organised by Simon Wotton, who arranged the itinerary (via
e-mail) with Herbert Byaruhanga, the general secretary of the Uganda Bird
Guides Club. He acted as our driver and guide for most of our time in Uganda
(he had to leave to go to the British Birdwatching Fair for part of our stay),
and we also had another guide - Alfred Twinomujuni for all of our stay. Alfred
rightly has a very good reputation as one of the country's premier guides. His
knowledge of bird identification & calls is superb, and he also has a
phenomenal ability to mimic very accurately many bird sounds. He also has an
extensive collection of sound-recordings on mini-disc (taken from Chappuis and
personal recordings).
Both Herbert and himself were also excellent company
throughout.
