No spring in sight, today +5 Celsius in southernmost Sweden and slight snowfall some
days ago. Up at Riksgränsen, northernmost Sweden, 216 cm snow for the moment. But
a few Swallows have been seen, so maybe...

There are rumours of Great Grey Owls, Strix nebulosa (lappuggla) on the move in northern
Sweden, there are 2 staying for the last 3 weeks as far south as Lake Gisslaren (northern
Uppland), just 120 km N Stockholm, in the area also Ural Owl, S. uralensis (slaguggla).

Sorry for the delay of reporting, there has been some misunderstanding about faxes
from the hotline club 300, now the routines are back to normal, so here are the observations
from 22 April - 5 May. The observations from 6-11 May will be send out as soon as I get the fax. The last week has been very interesting, with the spring arriving
in full force and a number of rare birds like the fifth Rock Bunting (Emberiza cia)
for Sweden. These records will be send out as soon as I get the summary from club
300.

Mediterranean Gull, Larus melanocephalus (svarthuvad mås)
1 ad s at Arlövs ängar and Malmö city the whole period +1 3y at Ecology Building !,
Lund 21.4. The ad is now breeding in a colony with Black-headed Gull, L. ridibundus
(skrattmås), probably with a Black-headed, but 10.5 there was also a 3y Mediterranean
Gull at the colony. There is no confirmed breeding yet of a pair of Meditteranean Gull
in Sweden, but several with mixed pairs.
