Last Saturday, October 4, there was a report of a suspected South Polar Skua, Catharacta maccormicki (sydpolslabb) in NW Scania. The bird was seen also on Sunday October 5, but the colour on the back was wrong, so it was determined to be a strangelooking Great Skua, C. skua (storlabb). So there are still no accepted records of South Polar Skua in Sweden.
The probably escaped male Daurian Redstart, Phoenicurus auroreus (svartryggad rödstjärt), found 24.9 in Örebro (Närke) stayed until 26.9. This species breeds in SE Russia, and in Mongolia - China.
