SWEDISH RARITY REPORT 15 - 29 SEPTEMBER 1998

A very mild September as a whole, but changed to icy winds from north-east yesterday, and an all time low for September in Sweden, -10 degree Celsius in Nikkaluokta, Lapland.

A new initiative by Club 300 is to make a big effort on Öland this week, "week 40", instead of the normal concentration on week 42 (birding during light hours, and seminars, pub, quiz etc in the evenings).
Sofar it hasn't produced that many rarities, but there is a number of keen birders out in the bush on Öland, and also for example along the Scanian east coast. So you never know what will turn up......
Sources: E-mail from the Swedish hotline Club 300.
Most of the rarities listed below are not official Swedish records until accepted by the national or local rarities committees.
My numbers of previous records could be low in some cases, since the records from 1996-1998 is under processing by the rarities committee, and therefore not published yet.

ae = a dots (pronounced as a in Mary)
