The major event was the Long-tailed Shrike, Lanius schach (rostgumpad törnskata)
seen only one day at Stora Karlsö, Gotland 11.6. If this record will be accepted
by the Swedish rarities committee as this species, and a category A-C bird, it will
be a new species for Sweden, and the 4th for Western Palearctic.

A very unexpected species. An escape ?
The species is mainly resident (from Nepal and eastwards in Asia), but the westernmost
population, race erythronotus, is a short distance migrant, in the mountains of Kazakhstan
and Tadzhikistan for example. The closest population is in Turkmeniya. It is extinct in Iran (BWP 7, p. 478-ff).
